The Octuplets’ Names!

Here it is! The moment you’ve all been waiting for. OK, maybe not. But today, after much cajoling and plenty of dough, the names of those octuplets have finally been released.
Maliah - see below
Noah- Hebrew, “comfort”
Jonah- Hebrew, “dove”
Isaiah- Hebrew, “God helps me”
Nariah -see below
Jeremiah- Hebrew, “the Lord exalts”
McCai (may be spelled Makai)- see below
Josiah- Hebrew, “God supports”
Most are Biblical and rather lovely, no? As a big proponent of meanings, I think they were carefully chosen for this special brood. McCai in this form was unfamiliar to me. It appears to be a McSpelling of Micaiah, Hebrew for “who is like Y_hweh?” The names of the girls gave me pause as well. Maliah may be a variant of the red hot Malia, which is Hawaiian for Mary. It also may be a contraction of Mahaliah, “tenderness.” Neriah is found in the Bible as a man, though by process of elimination I’m tempted to think this is one of the two girls. It means “lamp of Y_hweh.” Nera is a Hebrew girl’s name for “candlelight.” All the children share the middle name of Angel, and their surname is Solomon.

If you were to be, um, blessed with eight at once, what would you name them? I’m afraid I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to use Octavia or Octavian for the last born. The other names could then be chosen accordingly. What about:

I actually don’t mind their names and while I think their mom has a few issues that need to be worked out before those little darlings come home, she did a pretty okay job naming them. (I wish the Mcspelling was different but that’s it, really)

I have to say, I’m not impressed, but I don’t mind either. I don’t like the girls’ names at all, and McCai sticks out like a sore thumb.

I thought it was interesting/strange that her first born has the middle name ‘Makai’, another one the middle name ‘Kai’ and now another ‘Makai’ (I’m assuming the Mc- is a misspelling after seeing these.)
Her girl choices (including the older kids) are a little much for me, but I think she did an ok job with boy names. One of the octuplets has my son’s name. So that was a good one, anyway.

Overall, I’m pleasantly surprised by the names she chose. The biblical boys’ names are wonderful. As far as made-up names go, Maliah and Neriah aren’t bad. I’m a bit thrown by McCai — it’s obviously the odd-one-out. You do a great job of explaining possible derivations for the three unfamiliar ones.

I would like a big family maybe alll at once….to be honest I dont even think 14 is big…but I probabaly willl once I have my first child an dI also might not want 8 or 9 at the smae time lol

Honestly I dont think she really is a bad mother….if I could I probably would like 8 babies at the same time so I dont have to wait as long to have a big family.
Knowing that it takes over 100 thousand dollars to raise one child was enough to knock me down from wanting four kids, to wanting three. On the average family’s salary, you’re lucky to get 50 thousand a year! Not to mention house payments, car payments, food, schooling, clothes, and all the extras. I won’t hate on her, but I do think she has some sort of mental problem. She, as one person, cannot raise eight infants and six other children alone! She was crazy to go through with voluntarily planting seven (I believe) eggs into her uterus, knowing full well that that many and more could be conceived! I’d have more sympathy if they were naturally conceived, but each and every one of her kids she paid to get implanted in her, and she opts to have that many when she’s alone and unemployed?! Not to mention that, if she didn’t get so much face time, it’d be us American civilians paying for her family out of our paychecks and our wallets through taxes, which go straight to families like hers. Paying for fourteen kids one woman was crazy enough to have? I’m not buying it!

Okay, now that my outburst is over, I’ll be happy to give a name-related comment.
The names themselves, alone, mainly aren’t that bad. I’ll admit I expected much worse. I was expecting Makynli, Nevaeh, Kennedy, Braedyn, Jaedynn, and Kaydinne to come popping out of her womb, so in comparison, her brood is spectacular. But without comparing, and all grouped together, the names are a matchy-matchy trainwreck. Josiah and Jeremiah and Nariah and Maliah? The names sound almost exactly alike give or take the first few syllables!
If I were to have octuplets (good lord), two boys and six girls (for the sake of my sanity… I only have two good boy names I’m willing to use), I would name them:
