Lou Sulola Samuel
October 13, 2009

…was born to Heidi and Seal on October 9!
Is Sulola not so gorgeous? I do hope they call her that. Upon googling I did find other Sulolas. It may be Yoruba. Anyone?
ETA This according to a Celebrity Babies reader:
According to Babalola’s and Alaba’s Dictionary of Yoruba Personal Names, Sulola means “Our noble family is extensive/wide and vast”.

Sulola is lovely! I wonder what it means.
Lou Sulola is a bit of a tongue twister, though. I wish Lou was a nickname, not the full first name…
I’ll ask my husband if Sulola is a Yoruba name, and report back my findings…
Sulola is lovely! Shelly, I’m curious to hear what you learn.
I see that there was already confirmation that it is a Yoruba name, which is good because my husband wasn’t familiar with this name. He isn’t Yoruba himself (he’s from a different group, Edo), but does speak Yoruba.
In my mind, she will be little Sulola!
Sulola is gorgeous but still can’t save the combo. Lou is still just icky.
Lou? Seriously?! I’ve never heard Sulola before. They should have gone with that and nicknamed her Lou. Oh, well. I’m sure she will be gorgeous.
I am not impressed with Heidi Klum’s new daughter’s name. While Sulola has a nice ring, Lou is very boring and too unisex. Its fine as a nickname for something longer, but not liking it as a full fledged first name on a birth certificate. I would really like to know the meaning and origin of Sulola.
I’m in the minority – I think that Lou is okay. It isn’t nearly long enough for me to use but I think it passes.
I think I’M in the minority here. I love the name Lou for a girl. Only for a girl, by the way. Sulola is gorgeous, maybe even more gorgeous than Lou, but I’ve been loving Lou all the way until now. For years. I think it’s so beautiful, and NOT as a nn, but as a full name.
Thanks for the info on the meaning of Sulola.
am yoruba and to my understanding sulola means… surrounded in wealth
Sulola is a yoruba name and in fact it’s my surname.it’s cool to find my surname here
I really think there is more to Lou. I think it is short for something, Leni is short for Helene. I just don’t see them picking Lou as the actual name.
